I Have 400 Picture Frames. Yes, Really.

Apparently, There's Always Room for Another Frame

Eight years ago, when I moved into my apartment, I made a very practical decision. Keep the furniture neutral and let everything else have fun. Back then, I didn't consider myself particularly creative. Looking at my apartment now, I think the evidence was already there.

I started collecting frames. Tiny ones, oversized ones, anything that caught my eye. Every couple of weeks, another frame came home with me. I'd fill them with magazine cutouts, posters, little collages, or something I'd made myself.

Then, during a trip to Germany around 2023, I discovered diamond painting. My reaction? Wait, WHAT is this? Naturally, I had to try it. And naturally, trying it turned into making quite a few.

Suddenly, I had even more reasons to buy frames. Today, there are 36 hanging in my studio, another ten diamond paintings displayed around my home, and I've gifted more than twenty to people I love.

Some people assumed I'd eventually start selling them. They weren't entirely wrong. I've imagined creating pieces with my own visual signature, colorful passepartouts, unexpected patterns, and framing that feels distinctly mine. That idea is still sitting somewhere on my creative list.

But what I love most about framing things is how personal it feels. A picture can hold a memory, a mood, or something that made you smile on a random Tuesday. And putting it on your wall means you get to revisit it whenever you want.

Which probably explains why I keep buying frames. Apparently, I still have a few memories to make room for.
